Dubai announces Eid Al Adha 2025 holidays for government employees
Shift-based staff to follow separate operational schedules
DUBAI has officially declared a four-day holiday for Eid Al Adha 2025 for government employees.
The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) confirmed that the public sector will observe a break from Thursday, June 5 (Arafat Day) to Sunday, June 8. Offices will reopen on Monday, June 9.
This announcement follows the UAE’s sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent on Tuesday evening, confirming May 28 as the first day of the Islamic month. As a result, the Day of Arafah falls on June 5 and Eid Al Adha begins on Friday, June 6.
Who is exempt?
The circular clarifies that employees on shift-based schedules or working in roles involving essential public services or facility management are exempt. Their work timings will be determined internally based on operational requirements, ensuring uninterrupted public service delivery throughout the holiday.
Eid Al Adha holidays in UAE
The UAE federal government has aligned public and private sector holidays for this occasion. Both sectors will observe the same dates – June 5 to June 8 – for Eid Al Adha, ensuring a unified national break.
DGHR extended Eid greetings to UAE leaders and residents, marking the festive occasion with official well wishes across the emirate.
